  8. Work Permit. On completion of your studies, international students, studying in public education institutions, are eligible to apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP), not tied to a specific employer and area. The regulations for private educational institutions is slightly different. Please check with your Stepping Stones counsellor.
  9. Permanent Residency. International students who have studied in Canada don’t have to leave the country to apply for permanent residency.
  10. Beautiful country. As a student and perhaps a future employee, you will be living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
  11. Family eligibility. As an International student your spouse and children (under the age of 19) are allowed to accompany you during the duration of your studies. Your spouse is eligible for an open work permit allowing them to work full or part time without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
  12. Permanent Resident. If you wish to become a permanent resident of Canada your duration of studies are added to your duration of PGWP and taken into account.
  13. Employment. Job prospects are very high for Canada’s international graduate students.
  14. Health Insurance. As an international student your school offers you a Health plan. This is not free. The cost of health insurance is added to your tution fee. If you have your own health insurance, you may be exempt from the school's health plan.
